Musical Theatre in Education 2018 Tour
The tour took place from February 26th to March 16th and reached over 4000 children in 17 schools in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and West Sussex. There was a cast of five actors, alumni from the London College of Music, all of whom had featured in some way in previous performances of Risen! The Musical. The tour, which included a one hour children’s version of Risen! together with musical theatre workshops was hugely successful.
This comment from Rev Kathy Hicken, whose church sponsored the visit to St Marks CofE Primary School, Southampton, exemplifies the response we received:
Thank you so much for the amazing experience that Risen the Musical was at St Mark’s School! They absolutely loved it. The quality of the production was top-class, the music, set, songs, acting, singing, all of it was brilliant. The children loved the minecraft themed staging, the songs and the bits of humour too. The afternoon sessions were also utterly brilliant and the kids had such a wonderful time, and learnt so much. The actors were fabulous in the way they dealt with the children and led the workshop sessions getting everyone involved. In the end they got the teachers and staff to perform as well, which everyone loved.

Our thanks to the All Churches Trust who kindly awarded Risen! The Musical Theatre in Education a grant of £1000.00. We were however unsuccessful with applications for funding to 7 other charitable trusts. We would love for there to be a 2019 Theatre in Education tour, perhaps being extended by up to six weeks, however we would need the tour underwritten by £10,000
